Almost every time, before making any change to original system files or installing a new supplication that changes or edits the main system files, then you need to create a restore point so that you can easily redound all changes that you made with a few steps if you face something wrong. Creating a restore point in the windows operating system is quite an easy process. You can create a restore point on windows manually, also a restore point can be created automatically. Windows creates a restore point automatically when you install the windows operating system for the first time on your computer, and also when the windows system updates. But if you face any problem after an installation or system update, then the restore point maybe decreases the operating system to the previous state.

The restore point represents the storage state of your system files, data, and registry settings. That means, if somehow your windows operating system is not working right or if you want to undo some changes, you can easily restore your system to your selected restore point.

Creating a restore point when your computer is in a stable position or functional state is a good habit. You should create a restore point before making any change to the main system processor before installing any new or unknown application. Because you can redound all changes in your operating system to the restore point.

How to Create a Restore Point in Windows 10

The windows 10 operating system usually generates a backup copy of your operating system every time you install or uninstall any application or update the system. You will never know what will happen to your operating system or when anything wrong will happen to system settings. That’s why if you create a restore point, you will easily able to restore a data information copy within no time and go back to it whenever you want. Creating a restore point manually is quite easy on Windows 10 operating system. To create a restore point in Windows 10, please refer to the following methods.

Method 1 – create a restore point in windows 10 via the control panel.

Method 2 – create a restore point in windows 10 by using a third-party app.

Windows 10 operating systems generally backup your system files while you install any application or update the system. To create a restore point in windows 10 via the control panel, you need to refer to the following steps:

Step 1: first of all, you need to click on the windows icon which on the bottom of the screen to open the start menu.

Step 2: on the windows search box type control panel to find the control panel app. Open the control panel app.

Step 3: in the control panel search box which on the top right side of the window prompt, you need to type system restore and run it.

Step 4: the results will come. Now you need to click on the create a restore point option which underneath on system option. 

Step 5: the system properties window prompt will come. Make sure that you are on the system protection tab situated on the upper side of the system properties window.

Step 6: on the system properties window, you need the see on the protection settings section and see the create button. If the create button looks grey, you need to select the system drive which is usually “c” and click on the configure button. The new window named system properties for local disk (c:) will come. On this window prompt, check on the turn on system protection option on the restore settings. Make 2% of max usage on the disk space usage section. Now click on the ok button to confirm the settings.

Step 7: again, go to the system protection tab of the system properties window. You can see the local disk system (C:) (system) protection in the protection settings section and click on the create option on this window prompt.

Step 8: a new small windows prompt will pop up. In the box under the create a restore point topic, you need to type a name for this backup copy to easily identify. After you gave the name of your backup copy, click on the create button.

Step 9: the windows 10 operating system will start creating the restore point. This creating process will take up to 10 or 15 minutes.

Step 10: After this creating process has finished, you will get a confirmation window prompt that will tell you that the restore point was created successfully. You need to close this windows prompt by click on the ok button or tap on the top-right close button of the prompt.

Once again, creating a restore point in windows 10 is very useful. If your latest update creates any problematic issue, you can easily use your restore point to bring your computer back to the working situation.

Create a restore point in windows 10 by using third party software

There is much third-party software out there that uses to create a restore point in windows 10. You can use the free software named restore point creator to create a restore point. Restore point creator will allow you to quickly create restore points and you can easily delete individual restore points to free up your drive space. While Windows 10 enables you to delete restore points, all restore points will clear at once. That means you can’t delete individual restore points in windows 10 without using third-party software.  

Restore point creator will help you to view the amount of space used by all restore points. You can set up the software to create restore points automatically at a specified time of the day or week. Also, there is an option to automatically delete restore points after the “n” number of days. You can add this software to my computer context menu or configure it to automatically create a restore point in windows 10 at user login.

Creating a restore point in your windows 10 operating system is always a good thing because you never know when your operating system will breakdown or what will happen to your computer at one point or another. Creating a restore point is an easy process to restore any data file. In this way, you can easily get back your missing or corrupted files.
