A recycle bin is mainly a place where deleted items like files or folders are stored temporarily as like other trash applications. The recycle bin is mainly addressed on the desktop. It is a mostly used recognizable program. Any user can recover the deleted files from the Recycle bin. It holds all the deleted files and allows one to restore the files if necessary. In this article, we’ll talk about how to hide the recycle bin from the desktop.

Recycle bin is very useful most of the time but some people find it useless, they don’t want to stick to the Recycle bin on the desktop all the time.

People can hide the Recycle bin if they want to. Windows 10 permits you to hide the recycle bin. After hiding the recycle bin, one can delete files, and the files still stored in the Recycle Bin. But this time, you have to search for the recycle bin using the computer’s searching bar. As will not appear on the desktop anymore.

Sometimes we prefer to clean our desktop, that’s why we remove the recycle bin from the desktop. Again if we want to hide it from the desktop but still want it elsewhere in the computer it will be some time killing process.

To have more working efficiency and to get a personal experience, sometimes we want to customize our desktop. As the use of the recycle bin is very little to some people, that’s why they still don’t want to allow it on their desktop. So, how to hide the recycle bin from the desktop is a very needy question to some people.

How to Hide the Recycle Bin Icon From the Desktop

In Windows 8 and 10

  1. First, right-click anywhere on the desktop (but not on any desktop icons ).
  2. In the pop-up menu, select Personalize.
  3. Then, click on Themes in the left navigation menu.
  4. Under the heading  Related Settings, you have to click on the Desktop icon settings option.
  5. After that, uncheck the Recycle Bin box.
  6.  Finally, click OK.

In Microsoft Windows Vista and 7

  1. First, right-click anywhere on the desktop (but not on any desktop icons ).
  2. In the pop-up menu, select Personalize.
  3. You have to go to Themes and then have to click the desktop icon settings link on the right side.
  4. You have to uncheck the Recycle Bin box.
  5. 5. Finally, click OK.

In Microsoft Windows XP

In Microsoft Windows XP

The first method to hide the Recycle Bin icon in Windows XP is to use the application TweakUI.

  1. First, you have to download and then install Windows TweakUI
  2.  You have to open TweakUI and click the Desktop icon.
  3. In the Desktop section, you have to uncheck the Recycle Bin box.
  4. Finally, click Ok.

You can also remove the Recycle Bin icon directly, by the edition of the Windows registry.

How to Hide Recycle Bin Using the Control Panel

You can also hide the recycle bin from the desktop by using the control panel. For this, you have to follow the steps below:

1. First, you have to log in to Windows 10.

2. Then, right-click the start button at the bottom of the left side and select Control Panel from the menu.

3. Once you are in the Control Panel window, you have to type desktop common into the search box which is in the right corner of the top.

4. There is a show or hide common icons under Personalization on the desktop.

5. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog, uncheck the recycle bin.

6. and finally click ok.

How to Hide Recycle Bin Using Group Policy

Using group policy you can also hide the recycle bin icon. In group policy, three settings will allow you to show or hide the recycle bin icon.

1. First, log in to Windows 10.

2. Then you have to type MMC in the search box on the taskbar.

3. In the search results, right-click MMC and you have to select Run as administrator from the menu.

4. Now you have to enter administrator credentials or consent to elevation if prompted.

5. You have to click ctrl+M in the MMC window.

6. There is Group Policy Object Editor under Available snap-ins on the left. You have to double click in it which is in the add or Remove Snap-ins dialog.

7. In the Select Group Policy Object dialog, you have to click Finish to set the local computer as the Group Policy object.

8. In the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog, you have to click ok.

9. In the left pane of the MMC window, you have to expand User Configuration > Administrative Templates, and then click Desktop.

10. You double click Remove Recycle Bin icon from the desktop, in the right place.

11. Then you have to  check Enabled and then click ok in the Remove Recycle Bin icon from the desktop dialog

12. Finally close the MMC window.

1. First, you have to right-click on the desktop and then you have to choose Personalize.

2. Now from the left-hand menu, you have to select Themes, and then once you are there, in the right-hand menu, there is the “Related Settings” section, you have to select the Desktop icon settings from there.

3. Finally, you have to uncheck the box for Recycle Bin and then click Apply which is at the bottom of the window so that you can hide that Recycle Bin icon.

4. Alternatively, you can just hide all of your desktop icons by right-clicking on the desktop and clicking View -> Show desktop icons.

1. You have to right-click on the desktop, then choose Personalize, then choose Desktop Icon settings on the left-hand side.

2. Then simply remove the recycle bin by unchecking it.

3. You can also configure this from the Desktop Icon Settings in Personalization.

Some people never found the recycle bin on the desktop very useful, so it is often disappeared as one of the first things that are done. The only problem is that every new version of Windows makes it take more steps to get rid of it, and Windows 10 is even more complex than others. So, it demands some steps to hide the recycle bin in any version of Windows.
