We work on our computer and see the information on the monitor screen. We can see one Window at a time. But sometimes, we have to work using two different Windows on our computer. For this, there are two working Windows on the computer and we have to put one Windows OS behind the other. But this is time killing and does trouble in working. But how to put two windows side by side? Read the whole article to find the answers.

So, to solve the problem, we can split the two Windows side by side on the monitor screen and do the work properly. We can put the two Windows horizontally or vertically as we wish. It gives us comfort to work with both Windows and saves the time to bring the Windows one by one. There are several methods to put the Windows OS side by side easily.

How to Put Two Windows Side by Side

There are several methods by which you can do this. The methods are given below:

On Windows 7 & 8

If you are using Windows 7 or 8, you can split two monitors into two halves. The steps are given below:

Step 1: When you have two open Windows on your computer screen and both are holding different running programs, first you have to take the cursor to the center of the top part of the open Window.

Step 2: Then, you have to depress the left button of the mouse and grab the open Window.

Step 3: Next, you have to drag the open Window to the RIGHT of the monitor screen. You have to drag the Window keeping the mouse depressed. When you drag this, it will set the Window in the right half of the screen.   

Step 4: After this, you can see the other Window on your half screen. But the rest of the Window is behind the other Window on the right side.

Step 5: Now, you have to take the cursor of the topmost part of the open Window again.

Step 6: Again, you have to depress the left button of the mouse and grab this Window.  

Step 7: Now, you have to drag this Window over to the left side of the monitor screen keeping the mouse depressed. It will also resize this Window to the left half of the screen.

Now, the two Windows split side by side of the screen.

Put Two Windows Side by Side in Windows 7 & 8

On Windows 10

If you are using Windows 10, you have to follow some simple steps to put two windows side by side on your screen.

Step 1: In Windows 10 to split the two Windows side by side in the screen, first you have to select one Window from the two and drag it on any side of the screen. You have to release the mouse button when it touches the edge of the desktop.

Step 2: Then, you have to do the same process to drag the other Window to the other side of the screen.

Step 3: Now, when you drag one Window to the one edge of the screen, the Window will show thumbnails of the minimized Windows. You have to click on the thumbnails of the Window that you want to put on the other half side.

Step 4: You have to right-click on a free space of the taskbar. Then, you have to choose Show Windows Side by Side. In this way, you can align the two Windows vertically like pillars.

Step 5: If you want to keep the Windows horizontally, you have to choose Show Windows Stacked.

Step 6: There is a shortcut method, by which you can easily put the two windows side by side. You have to take the cursor of the mouse to one Window and press the Windows+right arrow key on the keyboard to keep that Window to the right half of the screen. Which one you want to keep on the left side, you have to take the cursor on it and press the Windows+left arrow key on the computer keyboard to put it on the left half of the screen.

Put Two Windows Side by Side in Windows 10

On Mac

You can split two Windows side by side on Mac. If you want to view two windows side by side on your Mac, you can easily split the Windows into one screen. For this, you have to check the Split View mode on Mac. You have to go to Settings. From the top part of the left side, there is an Apple menu. You have to go to system preference and then mission control. You have to check the box next to the Displays have separated spaces.

This split mode is supported by almost all the versions of Mac. But for the latest version of mac that is macOS Catalina prefers different requirements to split two Windows. The steps are given below to split two Windows on macOS Catalina:

Step 1: First, you have to click the top-left corner of the open Window and hold the green circle with the arrow that is outward-facing.

Step 2: Then, a menu will appear. You have to select Tile Window to Left of Screen or Tile Window to Right of Screen. The Window will set into the selected area.

Step 3: Finally, You have to select the second Window to set it in the other half of the screen.

If you want to launch split-screen in the earlier version of Mac OS X, you have to follow the steps below to put two windows side by side by this:

Step 1: You have to click the top left corner of the Window and hold the green circle with the outward-facing arrow.

Step 2: Then, the Window will be started shrinking and you have to drag the Window on any side of the screen.

Step 3: Now, you have to release the Window and set the Window on the left or right side.

Step 4: Next, you have to select the other Window and do the same to set it to the opposite side of the first Window.

Put Two Windows Side by Side on Mac

There is another method by which you can put the two windows side by side on your Mac book. Mission Control is another way to split two Windows side by side on mac. The steps of launching Mission Control are given below:

Step 1: First, you have to press F3 that is the button of Mission Control on your mac.

Step 2: Then, you have to press the Control+Upwords arrow on your computer keyboard at a time.

Step 3: You have to swipe up your three or four fingers on the Magic trackpad.

Step 4: Now, you have to click twice on the surface of the magic mouse.

Step 5: From the list of apps, you have to open Launchpad. You also have to navigate to Mission Control.

Step 6: Finally, you have to drag the Window to the top side of the screen in OS X EI.

Conclusion

There are different methods for a different version of Windows for putting two windows side-by-side on one screen. These methods help you to put the active Windows together and allow you to see both Windows at a time. There is a difference in methods for various versions of Windows. You have to select the proper method according to your operating system and follow the steps properly.
